According to a May 2, 2021, news release by the American Psychiatry Association, four in ten Americans (41%) felt more anxious in 2021, than in 2020. A poll of 2,000 adults by the same group in 2018 revealed people aren't finding solace in family, friends, and co-workers. 48% reported feeling anxiety about their relationships. 36% reported they feel extremely anxious about keeping themselves and their families safe. Additionally, more than half reported being particularly anxious about health, safety, finances, and politics.
